Furthermore, it’s important not to use indoor power strips in damp areas such as kitchens or laundry rooms, as moisture can cause damage to the strip and increase the risk of electrical issues.
Always check the maximum wattage rating on the label of your power strip to ensure the devices you plug into it do not exceed that limit.

Daisy-chaining multiple power strips, connecting one strip to another is a fire hazard and is prohibited by most safety regulations. 13. Portable Heaters
Most portable heaters run at 1,500 watts when set to high, creating a significant fire risk when plugged into a power strip. While many heaters have built-in safety shutoffs to prevent overheating, they do not protect the power strip itself. To reduce the risk of fire, plug heaters directly into a dedicated outlet.
14. Power Tools
Power tools require careful consideration when using a power strip. A standard strip may not be sufficient, but a heavy duty 220 volt power strip with grounded outlets can handle the load. The power cord should also be at least 14 gauge to prevent overheating. For high wattage tools like table saws and circular saws, always use a properly rated power strip or direct outlet connection.
15. Gaming Equipment
While power strips can be used for gaming systems, avoid overloading them with too many devices. A gaming PC alone may draw around 500 watts, and additional accessories like monitors, speakers, and lighting further increase power consumption. Check the wattage ratings of all connected devices to ensure they don’t exceed the power strip’s limit. To protect sensitive electronics from power surges, opt for a surge-protected power strip.
