All blue-eyed individuals share more than just their eye color, they have a unique genetic connection. This eye color, the second most common worldwide, originated from a genetic mutation that occurred 6,000 to 10,000 years ago. Originally, all humans had brown eyes.

Blue-eyed individuals have less melanin in their eyes, making them more sensitive to light, a condition known as photophobia, which is more common among them. Despite this, research by Louisville University professor Joanna Rowe suggests that blue-eyed people often excel in strategic thinking.

Notably, blue-eyed icons like Stephen Hawking and Marie Curie exemplify this strategic advantage. Researchers have recently identified the HERC2 gene as the key factor behind blue eyes. This gene inhibits OCA2, which would otherwise produce brown pigmentation.

Professor Hans Eiberg from the University of Copenhagen discovered that this mutation traces back to the early human migration from Africa to Europe. This genetic change, which inhibits brown eye production, suggests that all blue-eyed individuals share a common ancestor.
