A prominent Tesla investor has called for Elon Musk to step down as CEO, citing concerns over the company’s future.
Ross Gerber, one of Tesla’s earliest investors, criticized Musk for neglecting the company while focusing on political endeavors, particularly his involvement with Donald Trump’s administration and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Gerber argues that Musk’s increasingly divisive public persona has damaged Tesla’s reputation and sales.

Tesla’s market value has plummeted by more than $800 billion since December, and mounting protests and boycotts have only worsened the situation. Speaking to Sky News, Gerber didn’t hold back:
“The company’s reputation has been destroyed by Elon Musk. Sales are plummeting, it’s a crisis. You can’t sell the best product in the marketplace because the CEO is so polarizing.”
He went on to suggest that Musk either recommit to Tesla or step aside:
“Tesla needs a new CEO. The business has been neglected for too long. Either Elon should return as CEO and focus on Tesla, or he should continue his political interests and appoint someone else to run the company.”
Despite the scathing criticism, Musk has yet to publicly respond to Gerber’s comments.
