Family Denies Rumors in Teen Stabbing Case
A spokesperson for Karmelo Anthony, the 17-year-old charged in the fatal stabbing of athlete Austin Metcalf, has dismissed online rumors suggesting the two teens knew each other before the April 2 incident. The altercation, which occurred during a dispute over seating at a Frisco, Texas, track event, ended with Metcalf being stabbed and dying in his twin brother’s arms. Anthony admitted to the stabbing but maintains he acted in self-defense.
False claims circulating online, including posts from impersonated official accounts, alleged a history of conflict or “mutual combat” between the two. Dominique Alexander, speaking on behalf of Anthony’s family, firmly denied these allegations, stating, “Austin Metcalf and Karmelo Anthony did not know each other.” Alexander emphasized that the rumors are baseless and have fueled harmful speculation.
Alexander also revealed that Anthony’s family has faced racist threats in the wake of the incident. Urging the public to refrain from judgment, the spokesperson stressed the importance of allowing the legal process to proceed fairly. “Karmelo deserves a fair trial, and spreading misinformation only deepens the pain for everyone involved,” Alexander said. Authorities continue to investigate the case as the community grapples with the tragedy.
