The devoted dog owner was horrified when her beloved pet suddenly bit her as she leaned in for a kiss.
A devoted dog owner has shared the terrifying moment one of her beloved pets unexpectedly turned on her in a brutal attack.
Shayna Crimo, a lifelong dog lover, had helped raise two pups of her own. But what started as a routine moment of affection quickly turned into a nightmare, leaving her screaming for her partner to call 911.
She had just returned home from an art class to her dogs, King and Krieo, when the unthinkable happened.

Sadly, Krieo was recently diagnosed with cancer, which progressed rapidly, something Shayna believes may have influenced King’s unexpected behavior.
The 31-year-old from Reno, who even has tattoos of both her dogs’ names on her arm, admitted she’s struggling to process the traumatic event and is in denial for the sake of her mental health.
Having raised King since he was a puppy for 11 years, she never imagined he would turn on her. But the unprovoked attack happened in an instant, just as she leaned in to give him a kiss.
Shayna insisted that King had never shown signs of aggression before and had no history of violence, but in that moment, he bit her.

She recalled, “As soon as I went to give him a hug and a kiss, he bit me immediately. There was no growl, no warning, he didn’t back up or make a sound. It happened so fast.
“I remember the sensation of being shaken, which was horrifying. Then I ran into the bathroom, saw what I looked like, and screamed for my partner to call 911.”
Shayna added that King has never liked being disturbed at night, something she’s always been mindful of while raising him. However, she emphasized that nothing like this had ever happened before.

There were no warning signs.
Now, Shayna is missing most of her nose and requires forehead flap surgeries to reconstruct her face. The attack happened just days before she was scheduled to put down Krieo, her 13-year-old dog, following his cancer diagnosis.
She believes this may have influenced King’s behavior.
“These dogs literally grew up with me. I’ve had them for over a decade, they are my children, essentially,” she explained. “Do I want to put King down? Absolutely f*****g not.”

“I would rather stay home for the rest of his life, never go anywhere, never need babysitters, and just be extra careful, but that’s not an option.”
Just two days after her first surgery, Shayna had to say goodbye to Krieo, who was put down due to his illness. While she still lives with King, she continues to grapple with the heartbreaking decision of whether to let him go after the traumatic attack.
Shayna has launched a GoFundMe to help cover the costs of the multiple surgeries she now faces.
