After a grueling swimming competition in London, James boards an eight-hour flight to New York, eager to catch some rest. Equipped with earplugs and sleeping pills, he’s ready to sleep through the journey, until the woman in the aisle seat enters his row. From the moment she sits down, it’s clear she’s trouble. Complaining about the space, constantly pressing the call button, and making rude remarks, she declares herself the victim of a “human rights violation.” Her relentless elbowing and loud rants make the flight unbearable for both James and the quiet woman in the window seat. Despite flight attendants’ efforts to calm her, nothing works. She even demands that James and the window-seat woman be moved so she can stretch out more. By hour four, James has had enough. When the plane finally lands, she jumps up before the seatbelt sign is off and rushes toward the front, but then the captain’s voice fills the cabin: “We have a special guest onboard today…” The captain walks down the aisle and stops at James’s row. “Here she is, seat 42C! Let’s give her a round of applause!” The entire plane erupts in laughter and applause as the woman turns bright red with embarrassment.
