The 1% Club Fans Split Over ‘Sneaky’ Final Question as Contestant Takes Home Massive Jackpot

Fans of The 1% Club are once again divided over the final question, which saw the winner walk away with an impressive £99,000.

As one of the few British TV shows that can make viewers laugh, gasp in shock, and vent their frustrations all at once, The 1% Club continues to stir debate.

Hosted by comedian Lee Mack, the show has built a reputation for puzzling, and sometimes even irritating, viewers with its tricky questions.

The controversy from last night’s episode (8 February) arose when five contestants impressively made it to the final round, no easy feat.

Host Lee Mack then gave them a choice: split a guaranteed £10,000 or risk it all for a shot at the £99,000 jackpot. Unsurprisingly, they decided to go for the big prize.

In the end, contestant Matthew emerged victorious after cracking what many viewers deemed an incredibly tricky question.

Mack’s final challenge was: “If you remove all the underlined letters from the sentence below, what word can be spelt if you rearrange all of the remaining letters?”

Naturally, fans had plenty to say about it.

The sentence given for the final question was: ANIMAL TOSHUNINSTAMPEDE.

This is where fans found themselves divided.

After removing the underlined letters, the remaining ones were: Thpelean. Rearranged, they form the correct answer: Elephant.

However, many viewers were skeptical about solving this within the time limit, arguing it was too tricky to figure out so quickly. Others, however, insisted they could have cracked it and earned their place in The 1% Club.

Debate raged on social media, with one viewer calling out the show: “They were sneaky with the letter P. I’m sure a lot of people missed it, crafty behavior from the writers! #The1PercentClub”

Another viewer admitted: “Normally good at anagrams, but couldn’t get that in 30 seconds.”

Someone else added: “Wasn’t seeing that—congratulations to the winner!” Meanwhile, another frustrated fan wrote: “Nthape? Pathne? Nooo. Thaphne? Nooo. Uhhhh… Got nothing. #The1PercentClub It was Elephant! I’m not in the 1% club cries.”

However, those who managed to solve it had a much different reaction.

One viewer proudly shared: “Yes! I did it again, two weeks running. I’ve just finished playing The 1% Club! #The1PercentClub.”

Another pointed out that the answer was hiding in plain sight: “Elephant, the clue was there!”

Another viewer commented: “#The1PercentClub I’m terrible at anagrams, but that one was still easier than previous 1% questions.”
