The sisters shared that their half-sister, 23-year-old Aydan Nix, was born from a brief relationship between their father, Mohamed Hadid, and Terri Hatfield Dull after Mohamed’s divorce from their mother, Yolanda Hadid, back in 2001.
“Over 20 years ago, our dad, while single, had a brief relationship that led to a pregnancy,” Gigi, 30, and Bella, 28, said in a statement to the Daily Mail on May 29.
Aydan grew up in Florida with the man she called her father until he unexpectedly passed away when she was 19. After his death, Aydan took a genetic test out of curiosity and discovered her biological connection to Gigi and Bella.
The half-sisters first connected in late 2023, and since then, the Hadid family has welcomed Aydan warmly. (Us Weekly has reached out to their representatives for comment.)
Besides Gigi and Bella, Mohamed, 76, also has a son named Anwar, 25, with Yolanda. He has two other daughters, Marielle, 44, and Alana, 39, from his first marriage to Mary Butler.

Following her sisters’ footsteps, Aydan is pursuing a career in fashion. She graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York and shared photos of her graduation in a red gown and cap on Instagram, captioned with “WTF………. post grad ……..”
She is building a relationship with her new family
Gigi and Bella said that Aydan has spent quality time with the whole family, including their dad. “We’ve cherished this unexpected and beautiful addition to our family,” they shared.
She has a close bond with her mom
To celebrate her mom Terri’s 50th birthday in February 2023, Aydan posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram calling her “the most beautiful person I’ve ever known and ever will know.” She added, “Sometimes I call her 4 times a day. She always answers the phone.” Terri is both her role model and best friend.
