Hailey Hosford, a 27-year-old hairstylist and yoga retreat teacher, was tragically stabbed to death in a Sunrise, Florida parking garage just before heading home in the early hours of May 28.
The attack took place around 1:30 a.m. at The Retreat at Sawgrass Village. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, 21-year-old Jackson Julian Sagesse Jr., approaching Hailey’s parked Mercedes. As she attempted to get back into her car, Sagesse forced the door open and repeatedly stabbed her.
A male friend who returned during the assault tried to intervene but was stabbed in the throat. He survived and was able to alert authorities.
Hailey was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at 2:01 a.m. Police quickly located Sagesse at his nearby apartment. He was carrying one steak knife, and another was found in his vehicle, both matched his kitchen knife set. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to the killing, saying, “I just killed someone and walked away.”
Friends and family remember Hailey as joyful, passionate, and full of life. “There’s evil, and there’s good, we lost the good,” said her close friend Aubrey Rosebrock.
A GoFundMe campaign launched in Hailey’s memory has raised over $14,500 to help cover funeral expenses.
