South Korean model and reality TV star Kim Jong Suk passed away on June 4 at the age of 29, leaving fans shocked and sparking speculation about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Initial news reports claimed that a man in his 20s had jumped from a high-rise apartment in Hanam, Gyeonggi province, following a dispute with his girlfriend involving a broken glass bottle. This led to unverified rumors suggesting Suk had taken his own life to avoid police involvement.
His death was confirmed by his family during his funeral on June 6, but they did not publicly share details at the time.
Days later, Suk’s sister took to social media to address the growing misinformation. She strongly denied claims that Suk had assaulted his girlfriend, calling the rumors false and damaging. She explained that Suk had been struggling emotionally and financially after falling victim to an investment scam by someone he trusted, which left him broke and in debt.
According to her statement, Suk and his girlfriend had been drinking separately with friends, and Suk had visited her out of concern, not aggression. The broken soju bottle, she said, was the result of a friend trying to calm tensions, not an act of violence. Police were called, but there was no assault and no attempt by Suk to evade them.
Kim Jong Suk rose to fame as a model and gained further recognition after appearing on the popular dating reality show Skip Dating. In the days leading up to his death, he remained active on social media, though his accounts have since been made private.
His sister announced that the family plans to release messages and audio recordings to clear his name and intends to pursue legal action against those spreading false information.
