Angelina Jolie Slams Dishonesty as Her Biggest Pet Peeve Following Finalized Divorce from Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie isn’t holding back now that her long, highly publicized divorce from Brad Pitt is finally behind her.

In a new cover story for W Magazine, the 49-year-old actress got candid about one thing she absolutely can’t stand: dishonesty.

“My pet peeve is somebody who is a liar,” Jolie said in the interview published on Friday, January 3. “Somebody who feels a need to not say the truth or what they want, what they feel. There’s a big version of that, and I’m not trying to be heavy about it, but people who say one thing and mean another, who aren’t completely who they are. I think a lot of people don’t say what they mean.”

Though she didn’t name anyone directly, the timing of her comments raised eyebrows, as they came just days after her divorce from Brad Pitt, 61, was officially finalized. The former couple had been locked in an eight-year legal battle since Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, just two years after they tied the knot.

Despite her firm stance on honesty, sources say Jolie has avoided publicly criticizing Pitt throughout the years. “She’s been trying hard to be light after a dark time,” an insider told Us Weekly in December.

One of the main sources of conflict between the two was over Château Miraval, their $164 million French winery, along with ongoing custody arrangements for their six children: Maddox (22), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and 15-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, released a statement on her behalf, noting the emotional toll the process has taken. “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” the statement read. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

Pitt’s team has not commented on the final settlement.

Jolie originally filed for divorce citing “the health of the family” as her reason. The split came shortly after an alleged altercation on a private plane involving their son Maddox. Pitt was investigated for child abuse at the time but was later cleared of all charges.

Since the breakup, Pitt has moved on with girlfriend Ines de Ramon, whom he’s been dating since 2022. She’s reportedly encouraged him to maintain a more peaceful relationship with Jolie. Meanwhile, Jolie has kept her personal life out of the spotlight. A source confirmed in October that she’s currently not dating and remains focused on her children.
