A$AP Rocky and Rihanna are already thinking ahead when it comes to naming their third child. The couple, who share two sons, RZA, 3, and Riot, 21 months, made a splash at the Met Gala with their glamorous pregnancy announcement. Shortly after, they dropped hints about what they might call their next baby.
During a guest appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Rocky was asked whether their tradition of naming their children with “R” names would continue. He confirmed, “For sure,” revealing that the next baby will follow suit with the name starting with an “R.”
This revelation puts to rest a previous idea that A$AP’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, had mentioned months earlier. In a February 19 interview with Extra, Tacopina recalled that Rocky and Rihanna had jokingly promised to name their next child after him following the rapper’s acquittal. “They grabbed me and said, ‘Listen, our next baby is A$AP Joe,’” Tacopina shared, adding, “I’m gonna hold you to that!”
Tacopina also opened up about the emotional bond between him and Rocky, especially during the trial. He described a touching moment when Rocky expressed deep gratitude, even before hearing his acquittal verdict. “He looked at me and said, ‘Joe, I just want you to know I know how hard you fought here. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me, and I love you,’” Tacopina recalled. “It was rare to hear that kind of gratitude from a client at such a critical moment.”
Despite the initial promise to name the baby A$AP Joe, it seems that the “R” tradition will carry on, leaving fans to eagerly await the arrival of the newest member of the family.
