Bindi Irwin Shares Her Deep Concerns About Daughter Grace’s Future Health

Bindi Irwin has always been open with her fans. She and her husband, Chandler, even create short videos answering questions from their followers.

However, sharing her personal struggle with endometriosis wasn’t easy at first.

But she soon realized the importance of speaking out, hoping her story would help other women avoid suffering in silence as she once did.

On March 8, 2023, Bindi Irwin opened up about her decade-long struggle with endometriosis.

Now, 18 months later, she reflects on that moment in a new interview with 9Honey, admitting she was “terrified” to share her story. “At the end of the day, sharing my story with endometriosis felt so important to me that it outweighed my worry,” she said.

Despite the progress made, Bindi acknowledges, “There is still a long, long way to go. I feel like I’m still building back up to the person I was before endo took away so much.”

Even after everything she has endured, well-meaning admirers still ask if she plans to have more children. While she gently explains that no woman should be asked that question, there’s something else that troubles her even more.

“There is a very, very big possibility that Grace will have endometriosis, which really does weigh on me,” she shares.

Through it all, the Irwin family remains a pillar of strength. Bindi recalls how, at her lowest moments, her mother Terri’s unwavering love surrounded her, and her husband Chandler never let go of her hand.

Bindi Irwin has always been open about her struggles, and through it all, her mother, Terri, has been her greatest support. “She was there every step of the way for me, right down to helping me to the bathroom when I could barely walk after surgery,” Bindi shared.

Expressing her deep gratitude, she added, “I don’t know what I would do without my incredible mama … I hope I am able to be even half the incredible mama to Grace that my mum is to me.”

Earlier this year, Bindi was honored with the Endometriosis Foundation of America’s Blossom Award for her advocacy in breaking the stigma surrounding the painful condition

Bindi has kept her supporters updated throughout her journey, openly sharing her experience on Instagram.

Answering her followers’ most frequently asked questions about her battle with endometriosis and recovery from surgery, she reflected, “It has been a very long journey and a lot of challenges to get to this point. I’m very thankful to be on the other side of excision surgery, and I can officially say that I’m finally feeling better.”

“My life now looks completely different than it did before I had my surgery,” she added.

Opening up about her symptoms, Bindi revealed she had endured pain “every single day of my life.”

It wasn’t until after giving birth to her daughter, Grace Warrior, that she resumed her search for answers.

“What was really hard was Grace not knowing what was wrong with her mum, and not knowing what was wrong with me either,” Bindi admitted.

Bindi Irwin also revealed that she had been diagnosed with IBS after struggling to eat without feeling ill.

She opened up about her decision to undergo surgery in the United States, explaining that having the support of her husband Chandler and mother Terri’s family provided much-needed comfort during the procedure.

Two months after sharing with her followers that she had been diagnosed with endometriosis and had undergone surgery to treat it, Bindi offered an update.

In early March, the 24-year-old wrote, “Dear Friends, I battled for a long time wondering if I should share this journey with you in such a public space. It came down to the responsibility I feel to share my story for other women who need help.”

“For 10 years, I’ve struggled with overwhelming fatigue, pain, and nausea. Trying to stay positive while hiding the pain has been an incredibly difficult journey. Over the years, I’ve undergone countless tests, doctor visits, and scans,” Bindi shared.

She recalled being dismissed by a doctor who told her that her symptoms were simply “part of being a woman.” Feeling defeated, she gave up searching for answers and tried to push through the pain. It wasn’t until her friend, @lesliemosier, encouraged her to seek help that she found a path toward reclaiming her life.

Determined to find relief, Bindi made the difficult decision to undergo surgery for endometriosis. “Going in for surgery was scary, but I knew I couldn’t keep living like this,” she admitted.

During the procedure, doctors discovered “37 lesions, some very deep and difficult to remove, along with a chocolate cyst.” In her recovery, she felt immense validation when her doctor asked, “How did you live with this much pain?”

In her announcement post, Bindi expressed deep gratitude to her friends, family, doctors, and nurses for their unwavering support throughout her journey.

A week after her surgery, she shared a heartfelt update with her five million Instagram followers, posting a photo of herself resting in bed. “I’m healing,” she wrote.

“I have spent the week reading your kind words and stories of strength through your own experiences with endometriosis. Thank you with all my heart for sharing. I can finally see a new me on the journey towards better health. I can’t wait to be able to focus all my energy on our family and the conservation work we are so passionate about. Sending my love and light your way.”

Her husband, Chandler Powell, also expressed his admiration and support, writing on Instagram, “You are the strongest, toughest person I know. I love you and I’m so excited for this new chapter of life ❤️.”

Bindi’s younger brother, Robert Irwin, praised her courage and resilience, saying, “Love you @bindisueirwin ❤️ You are amazing. Not only for your strength battling through this physical and mental turmoil, but also for having the bravery to share your journey with the world to help other women who are suffering. You’re my hero, Bindi! 🙌”

In her latest update, Bindi shared an emotional message at the Endometriosis Foundation of America’s Blossom Ball, saying that for the first time in over a decade, she felt like she had been given “a second chance at life.”

“My world is opening up again. I am grateful beyond words. I’m going to start crying,” Bindi shared emotionally.

In August, she opened up about the difficulty of getting a diagnosis, revealing the frustration and isolation she felt. “You don’t know what’s wrong with you, and then when people tell you ‘It’s all in your head,’ or ‘You’re just hormonal,’ or ‘Just have a cup of tea and lay down,’ you end up feeling so desperately alone because there are no answers.”

Following surgery, doctors discovered 37 cysts on her ovaries. While the procedure was successful, Bindi continues her recovery, learning to navigate life with endometriosis.
