Singer and model Casandra Ventura, better known as Cassie, delivered powerful and emotional testimony this week in the federal case against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Taking the stand for the first time, Cassie offered a harrowing account of her decade-long relationship with Combs, shedding light on what she described as a pattern of coercive control, abuse, and exploitation.
At the center of her testimony were Combs’ now-notorious “white parties,” which Cassie alleged were often cover for what she called “freak offs”, highly explicit, orchestrated sexual encounters involving escorts, drugs, and degradation.
“It was disgusting, it was too much, it was overwhelming,” she said, breaking down in tears. She described hotel rooms left in shambles, baby oil smeared across walls, blood- and urine-stained linens, and scenes of chaos that could stretch on for days.
Cassie told the court that during these events, she was expected to perform sexual acts while Combs watched and directed. “Eventually it became a job for me, pretty much,” she said, revealing that the events were so frequent they occurred nearly weekly until around 2017 or 2018.
Even during her menstrual cycle, Cassie testified, she wasn’t allowed to opt out. She alleged that Combs would instruct escorts to urinate on her, claiming it was a sexual turn-on for him, regardless of her protests.
She also described being forced into inflatable pools filled with baby oil and told to keep her body “glistening” to match Combs’ preferences. Hotel rooms, she said, were regularly stocked with condoms, lubricant, and oil, and she was required to book them under an alias, “Jackie Star,” while Combs used names like “Frank White” or “Frank Black.”
The abuse, Cassie claimed, wasn’t just psychological or sexual, it was physical. She recalled being slapped or punched for making the wrong facial expression. “Make the wrong face, and the next thing I knew, I was getting hit in the face,” she said.
Cassie met Combs in 2005, when she was just 19. She described being swept into his world as both a romantic partner and a young artist whose career was under his control. “He was just this exciting, entertaining, fun guy that also happened to have, you know, my career in his hands,” she told the court.
She also alleged that Combs used blackmail to maintain power over her, recording videos of their sexual encounters and threatening to use them against her.
Federal prosecutors, led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson, claim Combs used his entertainment empire to manipulate and exploit women, disguising abuse as consensual relationships and parties. “He used his companies to manipulate women, forcing them with male escorts to have sex while he watched,” Johnson said in her opening statement.
The defense painted a starkly different picture, attempting to frame the case as an overreach into Combs’ private sex life. Defense attorney Teny Geragos told jurors, “He is physical, he is a drug user, you may know of his love of baby oil. Is that a federal crime? No.”
Combs faces multiple serious charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and other related crimes. If convicted, he could face life in prison. The trial is expected to continue through the summer.
