Courteney Cox Admits It Hurt Being the Only ‘Friends’ Star Never Nominated for an Emmy

Courteney Cox recently opened up about a painful part of her time on Friends. She was the only main cast member who was never nominated for an Emmy during the show’s ten year run. In a candid interview, Cox said that while she was proud of her role as Monica Geller, it hurt to see all five of her costars receive nominations while she was overlooked. Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer were all recognized for their performances.

Even though the lack of recognition stung, Cox made it clear that it did not take away from the strong bond she still shares with her Friends family. She called the experience incredible and said she would not trade it for anything.

Cox has gone on to receive praise for her work over the years. In 2021, she was nominated for an Emmy as an executive producer of Friends The Reunion. Still, not being acknowledged for her performance during the original series remains a bittersweet memory, one she now looks back on with a mix of pride and acceptance.
