Five members of the norteño band Los Juniors de Monterrey and their driver disappeared mysteriously while traveling to a private gig in Nuevo León, Mexico, stirring widespread concern online.
After performing at La Kaprichosa bar on June 15, the band’s last social media posts included a backstage video and a 3 a.m. clip showing what appeared to be “technical problems” with their vehicle on a rural road. Following this, they vanished for nearly 36 hours without contact.
Missing-person alerts were issued for bassist Luis Domínguez, bassoonist Óscar Pérez, lead singer Abraham Ontiveros, drummer Leonardo Rubio, stand-in accordionist Francisco Alfaro, and driver Lorenzo Martínez. Family and authorities tracked their last known locations but received no response.
On June 17, Nuevo León’s governor announced the group was safe and reunited with family, but provided no details, leaving fans and the public to speculate about what truly happened.
This incident gained extra attention given a recent, tragic kidnapping and murder of another norteño band’s members nearby. Despite the silence around the details, supporters expressed relief at Los Juniors’ safe return, even as the cause of their disappearance remains a mystery.
