Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol in Tampa rescued an abandoned dog that had been tied to a fence on Wednesday, just before Hurricane Milton was set to make landfall.

The FHP shared the incident on X (formerly Twitter), reminding pet owners never to leave their animals behind in dangerous conditions.
As floodwaters began to rise, the frightened dog stood trembling, unable to escape. Fortunately, a brave trooper arrived just in time, rescuing the helpless animal from the looming threat.

Though initially scared and growling, the dog gradually responded to the officer’s calm and reassuring voice. Thanks to the trooper’s patience and care, the dog was safely rescued, underscoring the importance of responsible pet ownership during emergencies.
