A strange AI-generated video featuring Donald Trump kissing Elon Musk’s feet was broadcast on televisions in government offices, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The video, which shows Trump holding Musk’s feet to his lips with the caption “Long live the real king,” appears to reference a recent post by Trump on X (formerly Twitter) where he called himself a “king.”
A spokesperson for the department condemned the incident, saying, “This is another waste of taxpayer dollars and resources. Appropriate action will be taken for all involved.”
The “disturbing” video surfaced after Elon Musk ordered U.S. government employees to provide a list of their accomplishments over the previous week or face termination. Staff members were sent an email requesting five bullet points outlining their achievements, with Musk warning on X, “Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.”
Although not a federal agency, Musk has led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) since Donald Trump returned to office, pushing for a reduction in the size of the U.S. government.
In a related move, the Department of Defense revealed plans to lay off thousands of probationary workers in a bid to cut its civilian workforce by 8%.
Federal employee lawyers have criticized Musk’s mass firings, calling them “one of the most massive employment frauds in the history of this country.”
