Fans are divided over Jennifer Lawrence’s baby name, with some saying it “sounds like just a noise.”
The Oscar-winning actress recently gave a rare glimpse into her personal life during a Vogue cover interview, where she opened up about becoming a mom and revealed her son’s name: Cy.
Lawrence welcomed her baby boy in February and explained that the name was inspired by postwar American painter Cy Twombly, one of her husband Cooke Maroney’s favorite artists.
While the name carries artistic and sentimental value for the couple, not everyone is impressed.
Some fans took to social media to critique the choice, with one writing, “That’s not a name, it’s a sound.” Another asked, “Is it short for something? It just feels incomplete.” A third commented, “This poor kid is going to get teased in school.”
However, others rushed to her defense, praising the simplicity and deeper meaning. “It’s unique and classy,” one fan posted. “Not everything has to be traditional.” Another added, “It’s beautiful if it’s tied to something meaningful like art.”

In the interview, Lawrence spoke emotionally about her experience as a new mom.
“The euphoria is just, Jesus, it’s impossible,” she said. “I always tell him, ‘I love you so much it’s impossible.’”
She also opened up about how motherhood changed her perspective on life: “The morning after I gave birth, I felt like my whole life had started over. Like, ‘Now is day one of my life.’”
Jennifer admitted she’s already stressing about her son’s future: “He’s gonna drive one day. He’s gonna be a stupid teenager behind the wheel of a car, and I’m just gonna be like, ‘Good night!’ Who sleeps?”
Despite her candidness, Lawrence is fiercely protective of her son’s privacy. In an earlier Vanity Fair interview, she shared that she avoids including him in any public work, saying, “Every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives.”
