Jennifer Lopez shook off a recent facial injury with a stunning and sexy performance at the 2025 American Music Awards.
The 55-year-old, who hosted the ceremony on Monday, May 26, at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, took the stage with a dynamic dance routine featuring a medley of hits like Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” Bad Bunny’s “NUEVAYoL,” and Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die With a Smile.”
Wearing a dazzling sparkly one-piece, Lopez didn’t hold back, at one point, she was seen sharing steamy kisses with several of her dancers. She wrapped up the opening number with a powerful performance to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”
Earlier in May, Lopez had shared on Instagram that she suffered a facial injury during rehearsal for the AMAs. She posted photos showing a cut across the bridge of her nose and iced the wound, captioning one, “So … this happened.” Later, she thanked Dr. Jason Diamond, a Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon, for “stitching me up,” adding, “A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”
This marked Lopez’s second time hosting the AMAs, having first taken the role 10 years ago in 2015. In April, when her hosting gig was announced, Dick Clark Productions CEO Jay Penske praised her talent and stage presence, saying, “Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick-off celebration of summer.”
Lopez has performed at the AMAs over 10 times throughout her career. Reflecting on the awards show’s 50th anniversary special in October 2024, she recalled her first AMA stage moment in 2001, describing the electric energy in the room.
She also spoke about how meaningful it is to win a fan-voted award. “Winning a fan-voted award is incredibly special because it’s directly from the people that you make the music for,” she said. “It’s just a humbling experience.”
Looking back at hosting the AMAs in 2015, Lopez called it a “huge honor” and teased, “Maybe I’ll do it again one day. Who knows?”
Lopez’s return to the AMAs came just three months after finalizing her divorce from Ben Affleck. The couple married in July 2022 and she filed for divorce in August 2024, listing their separation date as April.
