If there’s one thing Megan Fox has always done, it’s turn heads. From her early days on screen to her breakout role in Transformers, Fox quickly became a Hollywood icon, not just for her striking looks, but also for her bold, unfiltered personality.
Before becoming a household name, Fox appeared in the sitcom Hope & Faith and the teen comedy Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. But it was 2007’s Transformers that launched her into global stardom, followed by standout roles in Jennifer’s Body and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Over the years, Fox has been candid about the intense pressures of fame, especially when it comes to her body image. After giving birth to her first son, Noah (whom she shares with ex-husband Brian Austin Green), she revealed that she committed to a strict diet.
“I cut out all bread and those sort of carbohydrates,” she told E! News in 2014. “No crackers, no pretzels, no chips. Nothing unhealthy… The worst thing I put in my body is coffee, once a day.”
Along with clean eating, Fox took her workouts seriously. Her trainer at the time, Harley Pasternak, shared that even though she wasn’t a fan of traditional workouts, she stayed consistent. “It started during her first pregnancy and has carried on through now,” he told Us Weekly in 2014.
But while Fox was maintaining a flawless image on the outside, she was dealing with darker realities behind the scenes. Over the years, she’s spoken out about being hypersexualized by Hollywood, especially after Jennifer’s Body.
“It wasn’t just that movie. It was every day of my life… I had a genuine psychological breakdown,” she told Entertainment Tonight in 2019. “I didn’t want to be seen. I didn’t want to take photos, walk red carpets, nothing.”
After stepping back from the spotlight, Fox re-emerged with a stronger voice and a renewed focus. In 2020, she began dating rapper Machine Gun Kelly, and the two got engaged in early 2022. But even with renewed confidence, Fox has remained honest about her struggles with body image.
In her Sports Illustrated 2023 swimsuit edition cover story, she revealed her experience with body dysmorphia:
“I don’t ever see myself the way other people see me. There has never been a point in my life where I loved my body, never, ever.”
She explained that her body image issues didn’t come from her upbringing. “I grew up in a very religious environment where bodies weren’t even acknowledged. It definitely wasn’t environmental,” she said. “The journey of loving myself is going to be never-ending.”
From red carpets to personal revelations, Megan Fox’s story is more than skin-deep. Scroll down to see how she’s transformed, physically, emotionally, and professionally, throughout her incredible journey.
