Mysterious ‘UFO’ Disc Detected on Google Maps, Sparking Eerie Theories

A mysterious disc resembling a ‘UFO’ has been spotted on Google Maps, sparking eerie theories across the internet.

The unusual structure, which appears to resemble an extraterrestrial spacecraft, was located in the mountainous region of New Mexico and has since caused a stir among online users.

The white disc, located at the coordinates 34°24’21.6″N 107°05’44.5″W, sits about 34 miles from the Sevilleta National Refuge in La Joay and was uncovered by Google Maps explorers.

Adding to the intrigue, the object is located in the vast Sierra Ladrones landscape, with no visible roads, paths, or nearby homes.

Screenshots of the disc show the top of the white plate featuring metallic “hardware,” while the underside is obscured by surrounding bushes and vegetation.

The unusual discovery was shared on a Twitter account focused on ufology, with a post reading: “Something in the shape of a disc embedded in a mountain in New Mexico, USA, at an altitude of 2,255 meters.”

Several theories have emerged, with some speculating the object could be a “calibration target” for satellites, an abandoned observatory, or an old water reservoir.

Meanwhile, Reddit users have also joined the discussion, with some suggesting it might be a “crashed UFO stuck in the mountain.”

“I’m from New Mexico and know the area well,” one person commented. “It’s pure desert, with nothing out there. No way it could be a home, and if it’s on a mesa, drilling for water would be impossible. There’s no reason for a building to be there.”

Another user added: “I considered whether it could be a modern home built into the earth, but there’s no access road. I checked the tax maps, and this land is government-owned, not private.”

Interestingly, the earliest Google image of the site from 1996 shows the area was completely barren, with no disc or dirt path in sight.

A YouTuber known as Michael, or ‘The Earth Watchman’ to his subscribers, also took to investigating the site, commenting: “This is a very remote location, with nothing happening up here.”

He added, “This really looks like a disc stuck at the top of this mountain. I measured it from side to side, and it’s about 30 feet across.”

Michael speculated that the ‘disc’ was buried after it “crash-landed in the mountains.”

On the other hand, the Metabunk website took a more practical approach, diving into historical records from the US Geological Survey.

After reviewing photos from 1975, the site suggested the structure could have been a rainwater catchment that had been removed and replaced by a new structure. The Metabunk researcher concluded, “It seems that there was a structure at this exact spot as early as 1975, so it’s unlikely anything ‘crashed’ here.”
