As he nears his 100th day back in office, President Donald Trump is lashing out at major media outlets and pollsters following a wave of negative approval ratings. After returning to the White House in 2024, Trump will mark the 100-day milestone on April 29, but new polls suggest widespread public discontent with his leadership.
An ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll shows Trump holding the lowest 100-day approval rating of any president in 80 years, with 55% of Americans disapproving of his performance. A New York Times/Siena College poll similarly reports just 42% approval, with 66% of respondents describing his second term as “chaotic.”
Trump responded with a fiery post on Truth Social, rejecting the poll results and accusing media outlets of conspiring against him. He pointed to conservative pollster John McLaughlin, who argued that Trump supporters were underrepresented in the data, calling the surveys unreliable. Trump echoed that sentiment, branding the polls “FAKE” and claiming a “deeper and darker” agenda was at work.
Escalating his attack, Trump called for formal investigations into The New York Times, The Washington Post, and ABC News, accusing them of “election fraud” and labeling their reporting as criminal. He also revived the term “Trump Derangement Syndrome” to describe what he views as a media obsession with discrediting him.
Despite the backlash, Trump doubled down on his message, pledging to “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.” In response, both ABC News and The New York Times stood by their methodology, emphasizing transparency and efforts to accurately reflect voter sentiment.
