When it comes to what others wear, the general rule of thumb is to keep your opinions to yourself.
However, many establishments enforce dress codes outlining what is considered appropriate attire.
Now, one woman’s choice of ultra-short shorts has sparked a heated online debate.
Kerolay Chaves from Brazil took to Instagram to voice her frustration, claiming she was being unfairly targeted and “bullied for being too good looking” due to her revealing outfit. Meanwhile, social media users have offered their own theories on what really happened.

“I just got home from the supermarket and was harassed for wearing ‘too short clothes,’” she wrote on Instagram, with the post translated from Portuguese to English.
“Some people gave me judgmental looks, others cursed me, and finally, I was kicked out. Can you believe it? I think it’s absurd that women are still treated this way just because we choose to dress how we want. The truth is, we face this because we’re too attractive.”
Chaves also posted a photo of the outfit in question, denim shorts that were cut so short, they resembled underwear.
However, the majority of people sided with the store staff, expressing disapproval of her revealing attire. “No need to be dressed like that at a supermarket,” one critic wrote, adding, “You’re embarrassing the decent people who are often there with their children.”
Another commenter joked, “I guess it’s the same as if a shirtless man were kicked out of the store.”
Additionally, some people weren’t buying her version of the story.

One commenter wrote, “Clearly, this was for engagement and Instagram likes. She never went to the supermarket like that. Those who follow her stories know the truth. Sorry, but this isn’t helping you.”
Another added, “Stop using serious topics for engagement. It’s not prejudice, you’re just clueless.”
Someone else pointed out, “She even had time to take a picture before getting kicked out…”
A more observant user noted, “There’s a piece of clothing in the cart… I don’t think she went into the store like that. Maybe she covered up the bottom part and took these pictures for the post. I don’t think she got kicked out at all. It looks like there’s no one else in the market.”
Another theory suggested, “She probably chose an empty spot, snapped the photos, and posted them with that controversial caption just to get engagement.”
