During the recent G7 Summit in Kananaskis, a surprising detail captured the attention of both reporters and online observers: the condition of former President Donald Trump’s hands.
Now 79, Trump made an early departure from the summit amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran. But it wasn’t just his exit that drew attention, it was the noticeable discoloration and puffiness on his hands that quickly went viral.
Photos from the event showed swelling and unusual bruising, particularly on his right hand. Some speculated he had used makeup to cover the marks, while others guessed at possible medical explanations.
One White House official brushed it off, saying the marks were the result of countless handshakes during campaign stops. But online theories ranged from dehydration and vitamin deficiencies to IV treatments.
Dr. Jeff Foster noted that repeated bruising in the same areas could indicate the use of a cannula, especially as older skin becomes more fragile. Dr. Ross Perry echoed that sentiment, explaining that age, sun exposure, and medications like blood thinners or steroids can all make the skin more prone to visible bruising. At Trump’s age, even a firm handshake could leave a mark.
Though there’s been no official medical statement, the images have sparked renewed curiosity, and concern about the former president’s health.
