GTA V already holds the title of the most profitable entertainment product of all time, and with rumors suggesting that GTA 6 could rake in $1 billion in pre-order sales alone, it looks set to break even more records.
But despite all the anticipation, Rockstar Games has only released a single trailer in December 2023, leaving many fans anxious as the weeks and months drag on without a clear release date or pricing details. Recent rumors suggest that GTA 6 could cost up to $100, but until Rockstar confirms it, there’s still a lot of uncertainty.
The latest “announcement” from Rockstar has only added fuel to the fire: instead of sharing a release date or price, they’ve launched a GTA 6 Discord server. Naturally, the news was met with frustration by fans who took to social media to express their disappointment.
One user joked, “We got an official Rockstar server before GTA 6,” while another mocked, “Gotta give it to Rockstar… hype up a game we’ll never play… Brilliant strategy.” Others voiced concerns, with one saying, “If it’s coming this year, marketing has to kick off before July. If we don’t hear anything by May, I’d bet it’s not coming this year.”
A few players remained hopeful, suggesting the silence could end soon, perhaps with a new trailer in April or May. However, after years of waiting and repeated leaks about Vice City and Lucia, many fans are starting to grow impatient.
Despite the frustration, there’s no denying that the hype is real. With the first trailer breaking records and predictions of massive pre-order sales, Rockstar could probably skip marketing altogether and still see GTA 6 become the best-selling game of all time. Maybe the silence is part of their strategy, keep fans craving more, and they’ll deliver.
