What if we told you that one of Haribo’s most iconic sweets isn’t what you think it is? A recent Reddit post has reignited a long-standing mystery, and left fans questioning everything they thought they knew about Tangfastics.
It all started when a man took to Reddit to settle a lighthearted (but persistent) debate with his wife.
“After five years of marriage, we’ve just discovered that my wife and I call this particular Haribo sweet two totally different things. What do you call this Haribo?” he asked, attaching a photo of the candy in question.
Cue the chaos.
Some swore it was a key. Others were adamant it resembled a pacifier. One user suggested it looked like a “looking glass.” The debate exploded with passionate opinions:
“I used to call them keys.”
“I always thought they were fizzy versions of the ‘ring’ Haribos.”
As the thread gained traction, even Haribo itself stepped in to put the rumors to rest.
According to the company, the disputed Tangfastics sweet is officially… a pacifier. Yep, not a key. A dummy.
Cue the existential crisis.
Some fans took the clarification in stride. Others? Not so much.
“It was a key to me, but I know they’re apparently dummies. But they’re clearly not dummies,” one person wrote.
“It’s a dummy, but I call it the key,” another chimed in.
“Dummies, it says so on the packaging…” someone else pointed out, trying to bring order to the chaos.
But this isn’t the first time Haribo has shaken its fans to their gummy core.
Just recently, another social media stir erupted when people discovered that the green gummy bear in Haribo’s original mix isn’t apple or lime flavored, it’s strawberry.
“Calling the police over whether the green Haribo gummy bears are strawberry or apple,” one Twitter user joked.
“I was positive they were apple. Man, now I don’t know what to think,” said another.
Sure, the flavors are technically printed on the back of the packaging and on Haribo’s website. But where’s the fun in that?
Whether it’s mystery shapes or surprise flavors, one thing’s for sure, Haribo knows how to keep candy lovers guessing.
