Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Shiloh is stepping into the spotlight with a new name that honors her mom.
The 19-year-old made an appearance at the launch of Isabel Marant’s capsule collection with Net-A-Porter in Los Angeles on May 29. In the official press release for the event, Shiloh was listed as “Shi Jolie”, a shortened version of her name that drops her father’s surname and pays tribute to her mother, Angelina Jolie.
Shi choreographed an original dance number for the event, performed by Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuki to Luella’s new track, “Naïve.” The star-studded event also drew celebs like Alison Brie, January Jones, and Rachel Bilson.
This public use of the name “Shi Jolie” comes a year after Shiloh took legal steps to drop “Pitt” from her last name. On her 18th birthday in May 2024, she filed the paperwork to officially become Shiloh Jolie, and she did it entirely on her own, hiring her own lawyer and covering the cost herself. By August 2024, the name change was legally approved.
Shiloh isn’t the only one of the Jolie-Pitt kids distancing themselves from their father’s name. Zahara, 20, introduced herself solely as “Zahara Marley Jolie” when she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College in November 2023. Vivienne, now 16, was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for The Outsiders on Broadway, where she worked as a production assistant under her mom’s guidance. Whether Zahara and Vivienne have made their changes legal is still unknown.
The name shifts have unfolded during the long and often messy divorce between Pitt and Jolie. After tying the knot in 2014 following nearly a decade together, the couple split in 2016. They were declared legally single in 2019, but the divorce wasn’t finalized until December 2024 after years of court battles.
In a statement at the time, Jolie’s lawyer said, “Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.” Meanwhile, Pitt appeared unfazed. When asked by GQ in May if he felt any relief now that it was finally over, he simply said, “No. I don’t think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”
As the family continues to redefine itself post-divorce, Shi Jolie’s new identity stands as a bold and personal statement, one of independence, loyalty, and self-expression.
